'Recreation' Festival & 'Music for young listeners' series
Concerts featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, the Bach family and his contemporaries.


International musicians play on original instruments, mainly chamber music of the 18th century, works by Johann Michael Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and their contemporaries. Michael Haydn Museum, Erzabtei St. Peter.

Musica Viva

Varied concert programmes, from classical to contemporary music, arranged by young musicians. Taking place in the historic 'Gotischer Saal' or 'Dommusiksaal'.

Mozart Piano Sonatas

This concert series highlight the 18 piano sonatas which are the most renowned of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s piano compositions. Taking place In the historic Romanesque Hall of St. Peter’s Abbey.

Salzburg Residence Concerts

Concerts in historic costumes at Salzburg Residence. The State Rooms in the Old and New Residence were often used by Salzburg's prince-archbishops as the venue for music performances. The 'Salzburg Residenz concerts' carry on this tradition. Concerts in historic costumes, e.g. works by W.A. Mozart, A. Vivaldi and Johann Strauß.

Salzburg's Marionette Theater

Salzburg's Marionette Theater grew to become one of the city's major attractions by the 1920s. Salzburg's marionettes have always addressed adults although the puppets also hold a special fascination for children.

Their repertoire primarily includes the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Sound of Music Broadway musical has been on the
program since 2007.
